An IndiGo flight from Madurai to Chennai reported a technical issue on Friday after the captain noticed a crack on the aircraft’s windshield mid-air. The incident occurred on flight 6E 7253, prompting immediate safety measures by the crew.
The pilot spotted the crack as soon as it appeared, and arrangements were made at Chennai airport to ensure a safe landing. The aircraft touched down without incident, and passengers were safely disembarked soon after.
Following the landing, the aircraft was moved to Bay No. 95 for inspection by IndiGo’s engineering team. Preliminary checks indicate that the crack was external in nature. The airline has initiated a detailed technical evaluation and plans to replace the damaged windshield before resuming operations.
IndiGo confirmed that the aircraft has been grounded due to “maintenance requirement” and will only return to service after receiving necessary clearances. As a result, the flight’s return journey to Madurai was cancelled.
